Constancy testing of diagnostic monitors of digital X-ray equipment is prescribed in the X-ray Ordinance (RöV) in accordance with §§ 16 and 17 a RöV, in the quality assurance guidelines and in the DIN standards (DIN 6868-2, DIN 6868-5). The constancy test is requested and checked at regular intervals by the dental X-ray centers in the form of quality assurance. With gFM-Dental, this process can be carried out on the Apple macOS (Mac OS X) and Microsoft Windows operating systems.
Constancy testing of digital X-ray machines for Mac OS X and Windows
With gFM-Dental, dentists can easily carry out daily and monthly constancy checks. The main menu clearly shows whether the daily and monthly constancy check has been carried out on the corresponding day.
The constancy check is performed in gFM-Dental under dialog control. After calling up the daily or monthly constancy check, a button can be used to call up the test screen, which is available in gFM-Dental in all common screen resolutions. After calling up the test screen, the test results can be confirmed with a mouse click and an optional comment text can be added.
After confirming the check dialog, the check results for the daily and monthly constancy check are saved in a database and can be printed out in list form at the end of the month. Data from a constancy check that has already taken place can no longer be changed retrospectively; a corresponding unprotected data field is available in each data record for subsequent comments.
Two different lists of the examination results stored in the database can be printed out for any period of time. gFM-Dental also supports the export of examination results to Microsoft Excel or a text file, for example. The master data of the dental practice and optionally a practice logo as well as any number of user accounts can be specified in the settings.
Support for all modern Apple Mac desktops
gFM-Dental supports a range of different screen resolutions in the form of matching SMPTE test images and is suitable for the following Apple Mac and Windows computers with the following screen resolution:
- 1680 x 1050 pixels (Apple iMac 20″ until mid-2009)
- 1920 x 1080 pixels (Apple iMac 21.5″ until today)
- 1920 x 1200 pixels (Standard 24″ displays)
- 2560 x 1440 pixels (Apple iMac 27″, Apple Thunderbolt Display 27″)
- 2560 x 1600 pixels (Apple Cinema Display 30″, standard 30″ displays)
- DIN 6868-157 (Testing according to new DIN 6868-157 as of May 1, 2015)
Since displays and monitors with reflective surfaces have not yet been approved as diagnostic monitors in some federal states, the program also supports all other TÜV-approved diagnostic monitors in practice with the above-mentioned screen resolutions.
Customizable and expandable test criteria
The criteria for the daily and monthly constancy checks can be adapted and expanded due to the different legal requirements in some federal states. For both types of check, up to eight different check criteria with a freely configurable sequence can be specified, which are queried during the constancy check. The current screen resolution is automatically determined when the program is started and can also be adjusted manually.
Can also be used universally in other medical areas
In principle, gFM-Dental can also be used in other medical specialties, as the pure test procedure and the test image generally do not differ. The test criteria to be tested can be adapted or extended within the software if required. If in doubt, ask your inspection body whether and to what extent the constancy test of diagnostic monitors of digital X-ray devices differs from that in the dental field.
Expandable, flexible database system
The FileMaker-based database system from gFM-Dental has a modular structure and includes the constancy check of digital X-ray units on Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows as a basic solution. Thanks to its modular structure and the properties of the "rapid engineering system" FileMaker, gFM-Dental can be quickly and easily expanded with additional functions and databases. FileMaker supports a wide range of interfaces so that data from other applications or databases can also be used. With FileMaker, gFM-Dental can be used not only as a single-user version, but also in a network with almost any number of users.
