What is FileMaker Go?

FileMaker Go is an app that can be used to open FileMaker databases under iOS on the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch and can be downloaded free of charge from the App Store. FileMaker Go can open files both locally and over the network that are hosted on the network with FileMaker Pro or FileMaker Server. No FileMaker plugins can be used in FileMaker Go, as these are not supported in the mobile version. The development of databases is reserved for the desktop versions FileMaker Pro for Mac and Windows and is not possible with FileMaker Go.

The page control and popover buttons introduced in FileMaker Pro 13 are also available in FileMaker Go 13. For data security, FileMaker Go 13 supports 256-bit AES encryption. The app requires at least iOS 7.1. FileMaker Go 13 has been discontinued and is no longer available in the iTunes App Store.

FileMaker Go 14 and 15FileMaker Go 14 contains a new user interface that has been adapted for the new iOS 8 operating system and now includes a new Start Center in which all previously used databases are clearly displayed and can be started with a tap. In FileMaker Go 14, texts can be edited with styles, barcodes can be created and inserted into fields and the screen orientation can be controlled.
