What is a FileMaker Starter Solution?
For some years now, FileMaker Pro (Advanced) has been supplied with a large number of Starter solutions. Starter solutions are small FileMaker databases that have a specific functionality and can be customized and extended by the user to meet individual requirements.
A new Starter solution can be created via the FileMaker menu bar under the item [File > Direct start...] can be created. After selecting this menu item, a direct start window appears in which the following actions can be carried out.
- Select starter solution
- Create your own solution (from a new, empty FileMaker database)
- Convert existing file (e.g. from Excel or text files)
- FileMaker Pro Tour
- Videos and other learning resources
With the button [Show advanced solutions] opens a window in which all Starter Solutions available in FileMaker Pro are displayed and can be selected.
The following starter solutions are available in FileMaker 15:
- Assets (asset management)
- Tasks (tasks and to-do management)
- Expenditure report
- Content Management
- Event management
- Research notes
- Inventory
- Contacts
- Cost estimates
- Meetings
- Personnel data
- Product catalog
- Projects
- Invoices
- Resource planning
- Time accounting
As soon as a starter solution has been selected, a file selection dialog appears in which the new solution can be created as a new file. After confirming this dialog, the new FileMaker Starter solution can be used or adapted to your own requirements.
