On September 1, 2014, "Discover White", a purely Apple Mac-based dental practice, opened its doors in Düsseldorf's Medienhafen. When planning and designing the new dental practice, it was important that only Mac computers with the Apple operating system OS X were used. The project received technical support from Apple specialist Dirk Küpper, who has successfully migrated more than 30 other dental practices throughout Germany from Windows to Mac OS X in recent years. The dental practice uses the database tool gFM-Dental developed by goFileMaker to carry out the daily and monthly constancy check of the findings monitor on the digital X-ray unit under the Apple operating system OS X, as required by the X-ray ordinance.
The software, which is based on the FileMaker 13 platform, is installed on the computer to which a findings monitor is connected and set up as a start object. This ensures that gFM-Dental is started automatically every time the system is started so that the consistency check of the findings monitor can be carried out immediately. After the start, gFM-Dental uses conspicuous symbols to show whether the constancy check of the findings monitor has already been carried out on the current day. If necessary, the check can be carried out within a few seconds. The test result is saved in a log that can be printed out at any time or exported for processing in other applications.
gFM-Dental supports all desktop Macs since 2006 as well as all standard screen resolutions of commercially available displays. Up to eight test criteria can be set up individually for both the daily and monthly constancy test.
The brand new "Discover White" dental practice in Düsseldorf uses Apple hardware exclusively and operates a state-of-the-art Planmeca DVT, which, according to Dirk Küpper, transmits 3D images to the connected Mac in just 2.5 seconds. The practice uses the gFM-Dental database tool to check the consistency of the findings monitor. The conclusion of the operators after the first month of operation is short and sweet: Everything is running smoothly!
