gFM-Business ERP software for Apple Mac, Windows and iOS
What is ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software?
ERP is the abbreviation for Enterprise Resource Planning and is a generic term for IT systems that support operational processes in companies. Good ERP software can be largely adapted to the existing operating processes. Wikipedia describes ERP software as follows.
„Enterprise resource planning (ERP) refers to the entrepreneurial task of planning and managing resources such as capital, personnel, operating resources, materials, information and communication technology and IT systems in a timely and needs-based manner in line with the company's purpose. The aim is to ensure an efficient operational value creation process and continuously optimized management of business and operational processes."
ERP systems are available on the market for different requirements in various versions from many manufacturers. The best-known ERP systems come from the world's largest manufacturers such as SAP, Oracle, Infor, Sage and Microsoft.
In most cases, ERP software consists of several components such as CRM (Customer Relationship Management), merchandise management system, invoicing, requirements planning, document management and, depending on requirements, many other modules and components. In addition to the functions offered, modern ERP software must also have adequate security mechanisms and data security. For example, the ability to create automatic backups is just as mandatory today as user administration with configurable views or an event log of all changes to the database.
Standard software and customized ERP software
Most ERP programs on the market are closed standard software, i.e. the software must be used as it was delivered and can only be adapted to individual operating processes to a limited extent. For example, some ERP programs only support the adaptation of graphics and text to print layouts, while other systems support the complete adaptation or even the addition of print layouts. In most cases, standard ERP software is set up once and then set up and used with the existing functions.
Some ERP systems have also been developed completely individually for the respective purpose of use in a company. Various development systems such as FileMaker, 4D, Microsoft Access or other development environments and programming languages are available on the market for this purpose. Some ERP systems are also used as pure client-server solutions based on SQL databases. Developing ERP software completely individually means adapting the software to existing operating processes in the best possible way, but this requires a relatively high level of effort.
Customizable ERP software (customizing)
For ERP software, the market also offers modular standard systems that already have many ERP functions and modules and can be customized and extended according to individual requirements. Based on the FileMaker platform for Mac, Windows and Apple iOS, we also offer the gFM-Business ERP software as customizing or open licenses so that you can extend the software with FileMaker Pro (Advanced) yourself. Various other basic systems on other platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics or SAP are available on the market for companies of all sizes. Other customizable systems such as Topix or advanter from Günther BS are also available on the FileMaker platform, but usually not as an open license. Customizable ERP software is characterized by the fact that it already has a wide range of functions as delivered. This makes it possible to adapt software to individual operating processes without having to "reinvent the wheel" at the base.
FileMaker-based ERP software

With gFM-Business we offer ERP software for Mac, Windows and Apple iPad. The software is available for all company sizes as single-user and multi-user licenses.
Customizable FileMaker-based solutions include gFM-Business Custom and the Open license of gFM-Business from goFileMaker.de. Both versions can be adapted and expanded for individual company workflows. The FileMaker platform's wide range of interfaces enables direct connections to any third-party system. The open license of gFM-Business includes a development environment that optimally supports the developer in adapting and expanding the software.
