What are guides in FileMaker?
FileMaker supports various types of guides in layout mode in order to place objects precisely. A distinction is made between "normal" static guides and dynamic guides. Static guides can be created by clicking with the mouse on the horizontal or vertical graphic ruler, holding down the mouse button and dragging the guide from the ruler to the desired position while holding down the mouse button. If the graphic rulers are not displayed, you can activate them with the menu command [View > Rulers].

- Use auxiliary line on all layouts
- Lock auxiliary line
- Remove auxiliary line
With the menu command [View > Guides > Align to guides] you can set objects to be automatically aligned to guides.
Dynamic guides
With the menu command [View > Dynamic guides] you can switch dynamic guides on or off. If dynamic guides are activated, dynamic guides automatically appear when an object is moved in order to align the object with other objects. This makes it very easy to align fields with other fields, for example.
