What is the page view mode in FileMaker?

The Page view mode is one of the four display modes in FileMaker Browse mode, Search mode, Layout mode and Page view mode. It is used to display the data on a layout almost exactly as it would be output on a printer.

View: Page view modeThe page view mode can be changed with the menu command [View > Page view mode] or with the key combination [Ctrl/Cmd-U] can be called up. Page view mode is not interactive, i.e. buttons located in the data area cannot be executed. When page view mode is activated, the layout called up is displayed in the format saved in the current printer settings (paper format). The following buttons are available in the status toolbar in page view mode:

  • Save as Excel (Saves the retrieved data records as an unformatted Excel table)
  • Save as PDF (Saves the retrieved data records as a PDF file)
  • Print (Opens the dialog for printing the current view)
  • Paper size (Opens the dialog for the paper format settings)
  • Exit side view (Switches back to scroll mode)
