What is an invoice (invoicing software)?
An invoice or Invoicing is software that can be used to create documents such as quotations, order confirmations or invoices. In most cases, billing or invoicing is part of ERP software and is linked to a CRM and an ERP system. The CRM provides the billing address from the customer base and the document items are created from the merchandise management system.
Typical document types in a billing document
Invoicing software generally allows the creation of the following document types:
- Offers
- Order confirmations
- Delivery bills
- Invoices
- Credit notes
- Reminders
Some invoicing programs also contain a purchase order system for creating purchase orders or an invoice receipt book or other document types. Other program components of invoicing software can include SEPA mandates, account statements or a booking system.
Writing quotes and invoices with an invoice
The invoicing software contained in ERP software is linked to the CRM (customer management) and the merchandise management system. This means that new documents can be created directly from the CRM for the customer called up and automatically contain the customer's address.
Voucher items are created on the basis of the articles and prices entered in the merchandise management system, and the stock in the merchandise management system is usually reconciled when a voucher item is written off.
