Extension options of the gFM-Business REST-API interface

The already integrated online store interface of gFM-Business offers a wide range of useful functions, such as the import of orders as orders or invoices, the automatic import of customers into the CRM, as well as the comparison of stock levels. These functionalities are key to automating and increasing the efficiency of business processes between the ERP system and the online shop.

To make the REST API interface even more powerful and to meet the growing requirements of modern e-commerce processes, it can easily be expanded with FileMaker to include additional functions, such as:

Synchronization of product categories and attributes

In addition to the import of articles and their images, an extension of the interface could include the synchronization of product categories and article details such as attributes (e.g. sizes, colors). This would enable all item master data to remain consistent between the store and the ERP system. Companies could make changes to items centrally in the ERP system and these would be automatically transferred to the online store.

Product variant handling

Another important feature would be support for product variants. Many online retailers offer their products in different variants, such as different sizes, colors or materials. The expansion of the API could enable the management and synchronization of variants between the ERP system and the online store, which would increase flexibility when offering product options and simplify maintenance in the Shopware system.

Data analysis and reporting functions

The REST API interface could be extended to enable the export of sales reports and analyses. For example, e-commerce data such as sales figures, turnover statistics or customer behavior could be imported directly into the gFM Business ERP to create detailed reports and support business decisions. APIs could also be used to automatically send important key figures to dashboards or business intelligence tools.

Automated returns processing

Another important feature would be the integration of automated returns processing. The interface could be expanded to automatically transfer returns and credit notes from the online store to the ERP system. This would simplify the processing of returns and speed up the entire returns and credit note creation process.

Customized price and discount promotions

The API could be extended to enable user-defined price and discount promotions. Companies could create special promotions or discounts directly in the ERP system and automatically synchronize them with the online store. This would make it possible to efficiently manage time-limited special offers or individual customer discounts.

Customer communication and notifications

An extension that combines the API with a function for automated customer communication would also be useful. Here, for example, order confirmations, shipping notifications or returns information could be automatically sent to customers by email as soon as corresponding actions are carried out in the ERP system. This function could be seamlessly integrated with email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp or SendGrid can be integrated.

Summary

On the Basic and Professional platforms, the gFM Business ERP software includes an online store interface based on REST API, which has all the functions for daily operating processes and enables multichannel operation in the Professional version.

By extending the existing REST API interface, companies could benefit from even greater automation and efficiency. From better integration of order status updates, management of product variants and attributes, to enhanced reporting and multi-channel capabilities, the gFM-Business API interface could meet the needs of modern e-commerce businesses even better. These enhancements would not only optimize the workflow, but also increase customer satisfaction through faster and more precise processing
