What is the .fp5 format of FileMaker?
The .fp5 file format was used by FileMaker Pro 5, 5.5 and FileMaker Pro 6, which were manufactured between 1999 and 2004. FileMaker Pro 6, introduced in 2002, was the first to support importing and exporting XML files and restricting or expanding existing search results. All versions of FileMaker Pro mentioned above no longer work on Mac OS X (except Rosetta up to Mac OS X 10.6).
The .fp5 format of FileMaker databases supports only one data table per file. FileMaker Pro 5 through 6 can handle a maximum of 50 open files, which is a maximum of 50 data tables. The maximum file size for FileMaker databases in .fp5 format is 2 GB. Read more >>>

The .fp7 file format is a FileMaker Pro database from FileMaker versions 7 through 11, and FileMaker Pro 7, released in 2004, is a completely new file format that replaced the old .fp5 files. What is an interface in relation to FileMaker?
A interface is the generic term for the exchange of data between different systems. Most software programs have various interfaces. If you export data from FileMaker in a text or Excel format and open it in another program, your exported data is an interface between FileMaker and the other program.
Interfaces can be realized in various ways. The most common interfaces allow data to be exported in various text formats and re-imported into the target system in a compatible format. Interfaces can also be integrated directly into the systems and then exchange data with each other via a direct connection. A prominent example of such an interface is an online store interface that can directly access the corresponding store system. An example of a very simple interface is a barcode: After you have scanned it, the corresponding key stored in the barcode appears in the database.
The business software gFM-Business has numerous interfaces to third-party systems. First of all, by clicking on the [Export] symbol in the toolbar, each mask allows the data export of all data belonging to the mask in individual formats.
